This series was conceived to build on some of the same themes, I explored in my short film Somnium, bringing ancient stories to life in a way that is relatable and entertaining for a modern audience, by putting our past in conversation with our future. I set to work writing and designing, adapting folktales to take place with a constant cast of characters. Even though it was not a typical children's series, Family Channel Canada and the Canada Media Fund saw the potential and came on board to support developing the series, which enabled me to direct a small team of talented artists to further refine the visual style of the series and develop a mini show bible and samples. It was great to be working with a broadcaster that supported the auteur nature of the series, giving us complete creative freedom.
